got me feelin like

got me feelin like

salimata is so cool. her lyricism and delivery has that umph to it—where you can tell she just be havin a good time in the booth.

“wooden floors” is a short and sweet showcase of her abilities and interests. we got some crazy flow versatility, niche black media references, and toooons of personality squeezed into 1-2 minute tracks.

she has a lot of juxtapositions, and they create interest. scratchy and smooth, raunchy and innocent; sometimes her voice is mixed to the forefront, and sometimes it’s pushed far back to showcase the production. the samples are both experimental and traditional, within the alchemist/madlib camp, where things are pushed tastefully.

I can positively say her next project “the happening” pushed everything that I loved here even further (may review that one later we’ll see we’ll see), but I still find myself coming back to this one because there’s a certain charm to it.
