fakemink’s music has always felt more about the atmosphere than the performances themselves, and terrified doubles down on that. the whole record has this hazy, late-night feeling that makes it easy to just let it play front to back.
i really like how cohesive everything is. the transitions and spoken moments help tie the album together, and the production is consistently great. fakemink’s voice isn’t particularly remarkable, but the way he blends into the beats works in the album’s favor more often than not.
my biggest issue is that a lot of the songs start to blur together. after 19 tracks, there aren’t many moments that truly jump out, and some of the songs feel interchangeable despite how enjoyable they are in the moment.
still, i came away liking terrified. i don’t think it’s his strongest release, and i was hoping for a few more standout moments, but the atmosphere alone kept me coming back. even when it isn’t hitting its highest peaks, fakemink knows how to create a world you want to sit in.
