Discovering this album right after COVID while finishing up university is something that’ll stay with me forever. My friends Gerlie and Donnovan put me on to it, and I was hooked immediately. Then I found out the artist was featured on Frank Ocean’s jewelry brand website Homer, which was a cool connection.
What got me was his voice and the production. The samples throughout the album are really well done and catch you every listen. What works about most of these tracks is how they build. They start fast with a lot of energy, then slow down and shift into something more laid back by the end. It’s a simple thing but it makes the songs stick with you. The grooves are smooth and the flows feel natural, and the whole project just makes you feel good. That’s what draws me to it.
I went to see him perform in LA back in 2022 and it was such a good show. I was in the pit during “ANDRETTI” and then Na-kel Smith showed up as a surprise guest, which made the night even better.
