This thing is so cool. Sounds like walking through a cloudy city at 1am with like.. with like… with ice cold water. i don’t know so much about the ice water part because I actually prefer room temperature but it feels right to say because the album feels cool.
Smerz has notes of the lounge-y trip hop of the early 2010’s. Calling back to infamous acts like massive attack, portishead, sneakerpimps, and dean blunt . Airy and lush vocals over a mix of equally challenging and sparkly production. The lyrics are emotionally charged but cryptic. it sounds like it’s not meant for everyone, and it prides itself in so. Really excited to see where this group goes, especially with grungy-er sounds making stronger waves in the mainstream.
