This album was so highly anticipated! And it really delivered. I became a fan of Lexa after 2022’s “universe wrapped in flesh,” where I found her style equal parts sharp, soft, witty, and personal. Songs like “rotten to the core” and “where are you” were on replay.
I find myself enjoying this one even more. It has all of the same flair and appealing aspects of UWIF but it manages to introduce even more of what I initially liked: soulful production, heady lyrics, and rap melodies.
There’s more pop appeal, where I find myself singing choruses and bopping my head along. That mixed with some down-to-earth writing really brings together a nice listen. She doesn’t shy from sharing what’s rocky in her life while also encouraging enough levity for you to rock with it. At one point you could be hittin the stanky leg then at another point you're like damn who hurt you…..
This project always has a track or two in rotation because of this balance of raw-levity. It cuts through the glamour—straight to the root.
