this ep sounds like a momentary escape. running from the tough social, mental, or even physical circumstances to find refuge in that comfortable space.
over a short and sweet 10 minutes, junior's solace rests in the music. there's a clear beginning, middle, and end—with the introduction easing out of the title track, all of the rising action in the middle, and a last track resolution that shoots to the sky.
"caroline," revisits a past relationship with a shaved ego. the falsetto is crispy and the production feels both empty and warm.
"you are alright" addresses a toxic cycle bandaged by affirmations. his voice is raspy and a little belligerent at times—matching the rawness of the experience.
"can you hear the sound" automatically shoots the mood upwards and provides an anthem for his mode of escape:

The vibrating words
Only can be heard
From mouths, you know
I long to follow pace
The sounds coming out
Oh, I think I’ve found

the buildup is steady and littered with heavy strums and claps—making for a very inspirational cut, especially after hearing the song right before.
overall, fascinating ep! It's both succinct and narratively tight, which makes me very excited by the prospect of an album.
