found this one on a random soundcloud deep dive!
felt like i stumbled upon treasure, head was banging immediately. tons of florida/southern club classics surfaced and reworked into new shapes.
deep bass, rapid tempos, and every breakbeat in the pack of packs—hopper1000 has an ear for jungle. never resting for even a second, tracks transition from high energy to high energy subverting whatever break on the dance floor you thought you were gonna get.
Everything here is very definitive of the black electronic music scene, where music is and has always been proudly derivative. covers, remixes, mixtapes. remixes of covers of covers of a remix on a mixtape. it keeps building and growing into new sounds while actively paying respect to what precedes. hopper1000, fort myers, a white fella baked in this sound, carries the magic forwards.
the title track, "miami mystic," prepares you, easing in with some scratches and gradual progression into a silky sample contrasted against the heaviest bass. so punchy i'm kinda scared to play it in my car speakers… in the headphones though? allllllll the way up.
another personal favorite is the ghettotech mix, "witcha dude!!" Makes me sway my hair back and forth with a lil jig and a lil shoulder bob. shoutout black queen, shoutout YKNIECE.
definitely will be giving his other mixes a listen.
